Creating an inclusive dance offer for County Durham

Since its formation, TIN Arts has been committed to ensuring that all the activity we lead is fully inclusive and fully accessible.

We are committed to establishing progressive dance pathways for both disabled and non-disabled children, young people and adults, creating a life-cycle of opportunities and activity.

There are barriers in society that mean that the potential for disabled people to produce and enjoy great art are limited. We want to change this.

We want to transform where we live, work and play and place TIN Arts at the centre of County Durham's aspirational future.

We want to inspire and enable children, young people and adults with a learning disability in County Durham to celebrate their potential through active participation and the exploration of high quality dance experiences.

We will achieve this by:

• Delivering specific engagement and activity projects
• Collaborating with key local and regional stakeholders to increase active partnership working
• Developing the capacity of the TIN Arts core staff and board to manage a development, delivery and advocacy programme

Our vision is that by 2015 TIN Arts will have:

• delivered a wide-ranging and innovative dance engagement programme for vulnerable people both independently and in partnership
• further developed The Flex Dance Company, our existing exemplar learning disabled dance company that advocates, represents and demonstrates best practice in inclusive dance
• advocated new dance engagement opportunities for vulnerable groups across County Durham
• increased participation in dance for people with the least access
• created strategic public and private sector partnerships, developing active commissioning opportunities
• provided opportunities to share our work with peers regionally and nationally
